Committal Prayers

Committal prayers are typically offered at the graveside.  They may be used at the conclusion of the service if there is no graveside service.  The purpose of a committal prayer is to formally place the body or ashes in the earth (or final resting place) while committing the spirit to God, the almighty and merciful judge.  A committal prayer could also be modified and used at a private family viewing prior to cremation.
